| PERG News: March 2023 |
Dear PERG Members and Friends,
We are expecting a great turn out for the PERG Rental House Breakfast at Cine Gear. Please be sure to RSVP for the event, otherwise security will not have your name at the gate. Invitations have been sent separately to PERG members. If your company is not a member and interested in joining PERG, please reach out to Harry for an application and come as a guest of a PERG member or one of PERG's sponsors. They can RSVP for you.
Unfortunately, Cine Gear Expo has not responded to our inquiries. For now, we suggest parking in the Paramount Van Ness lot, but cannot guarantee that. We cannot guarantee we will have Cine Gear badges for those guests who have not already picked theirs up. We'll keep you posted.

Stop by and check out Angenieux’s new, next generation U35/FF Full Pack set of Optimo Ultra Compact zoom lenses. See the latest Integrated Optical Palette (IOP) custom look options for Angenieux Optimo Primes, including the new Pearlescent, and Tiffen Blue Streak internal IOP filters. Live IOP lens customization & cine lens evaluation demos will be provided throughout the show featuring critical lens evaluation “PAT Charts” by Prêt À Tourner. All this and cold drinks on the Paramount Lot, what more could you ask for? We’ll see you there!
Show attendees are invited to join the filmmakers of Band Pro’s new 8K short film ‘Make Believe’ for a screening and live Q&A at Sherry Lansing Theater on Friday 6/2 at 2:00 PM. ‘Make Believe’ was captured on Sony Venice 2 using Sony’s new Rialto 2 extension system and lensed with full frame Angenieux Optimo Primes. Created in partnership with Sony, and shot entirely on Stargate Studios’ virtual LED stage, ‘Make Believe’ provides a compelling look at modern virtual production techniques combined with state-of-the- art camera & custom-look cinema lens technology.
Core SWX, a leading provider of batteries and charging solutions, will be showing its new Renegade Series of power stations. They are the culmination of years of research and development to deliver high capacity, high current output, and exceptional quality, lithium-based power solutions with incredible versatility for the Cinema and Lighting Industries.
The Renegade Series features three models: the Renegade, Renegade XL, and Renegade XL 48. The Renegade is a 777wh, LIFEPO4 power station delivering 15v, 28v and 48 simultaneously with up to a 1200w output. From a fully discharged state, the included PFQ8 external charger can recharge the Renegade in less than 3.5 hours.
The two Renegade XL models are 1376wh, Li-Ion power stations. The RNG-XL-1 can deliver 15v, 28v, or 48v making it a versatile power source for various cinema equipment. If you are in need of a lighting-focused option, the RNG-XL48 variant has got you covered with its dual 48v, 15amp outputs. The Renegade XL's groundbreaking built-in charging system can recharge its massive 1376Wh capacity in just 5 hours. Moreover, the Renegade XL also provides unparalleled flexibility and efficiency with the optional SFQ40 rapid charger, which can charge one Renegade XL in an astonishing 2.5 hours, setting a new industry benchmark in the cinema world.
All 3 models are the same size and footprint as their nickel metal hydride cousin, the Maverick, fitting in most dolly compartments and legacy shipping cases. Just like with the Maverick, units are highly serviceable to maximize up-time and minimize downtime for maximum ROI.

Our visitors will also have a chance to win a free ZEISS Milvus lens! Don’t miss out. After coming to our booth, join us at the Paramount Theatre on Saturday June 3rd at 5pm! We’re sponsoring a special screening of the 2023 HBO Camera Assessment Series Documentary, which is open to all registered Cine Gear attendees.
For 10 years now, HBO CAS has helped DPs, directors and producers to select the most appropriate camera for their scenario. ZEISS Supreme Prime and CZ.2 Cinema Zoom lenses were used exclusively for their consistent look across all cameras tested. Our partner, the Digital Cinema Society is moderating a Q&A following the screening with the HBO CAS team. We suggest arriving early! By staging complex and real-life scenarios, Director/DP Suny Behar presents an in-depth review of the strengths and weaknesses of each camera system. Cameras tested include the Sony VENICE 2, RED V-Raptor, ARRI Alexa Mini, ARRI Alexa 35, Blackmagic Ursa 12k, and Kodak 5219 film.
