The schedule for Duclos Lens Tech Training is starting to take shape. The principal training event, of course, is the hands-on training labs led by Matthew Duclos. Matt will be teaching Level One and Level Two courses. Please see website for details.
In addition, trainees will be treated to afternoon sessions with lens manufacturers and guest speaker lecture/discussions. The lens manufacturers, platinum-level sponsors of the event, have generously agreed to lend us engineers and technicians for technical presentations that will complement the hands-on training. Chrosziel is kindly providing their Lens Test Projector P-TP7 II for the duration of the training. Chrosziel will be presenting a deep dive into the fine points of lens evaluation during the Level One training.
Fujifilm/Fujinon, Cooke, Angenieux and Atlas Lenses will be among the other technical presenters. Stay tuned for updates about their presentation topics. We expect to be adding four additional companies to the list of presenters very soon.
Presentations by:Other guest speakers:
Jay Holben and Chris Probst, ASC, authors of The Cine Lens Manual, the Definitive Guide to the History, Design, and Implementation of Motion Picture Optics will discuss the fascinating history of optics, giving context and insight for today’s lens technicians. Holben’s workshops on the technical and artistic nature of optics have been well received.
Gary Adcock, new technology advocate, consultant, educator, and Executive Director of Filmscape Chicago will give a talk on lens metadata, which is increasingly a crucial part of cinema workflow.
Other guest speakers will be announced as they are confirmed. We have some exciting prospects.
Classes are now more than half full. We encourage PERG members to REGISTER NOW, during PERG’s exclusive preregistration period. Registration will open to all rental companies on December 1st.
