Sony at NAB: The Power Behind Your Story

At this year’s NAB Show, Sony’s theme is ‘The Power Behind Your Story’ which demonstrates how our technologies are the driving force behind various forms of storytelling. At the booth, Sony will showcase an extensive suite of new technology for live production, virtual production, and the current lineup of cinema cameras. Some highlights include the new “R Series” system camera lineup, the XYN spatial capture solution,  Sony’s recently launched PXW Z300 XDCAM handheld AI-powered camcorder – the world’s first to support the C2PA standard for video authenticity, and VENICE Extension System Mini (Rialto) combined with the glasses-free 3D Spatial Reality Display.

• The Funicular Goats and Sony: Turning Extreme Moments into Cinematic Experiences

  • Funicular Goats have been on the vanguard of using the cinema aesthetic for live events. This session will explore the technology behind capturing the Superbowl Halftime Show, Netflix Christmas Gameday Halftime Show, and most recently Skyscraper Live! – a live-streamed free solo ascent of a 101-story Taipei skyscraper – including the VENICE 2, BURANO, and FR7.

• Jordan Cowan: Cinematic Artistry on Ice

• Indie Film Drifter Behind the Scenes

  • Go behind the scenes with writer, director, actor Sung Kang (Fast and Furious franchise, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Power), and his latest film Drifter that focuses on authentic car culture, real drifters and high-speed stunt work using the Sony VENICE, FX6, and FX2. This panel will feature a special sneak peek of the teaser followed by a discussion with Kang along with Cinematographer Bruce Thierry Cheung and editor Lam Nguyen.

• Cut to the Chase – a Sony Virtual Production Short Film

  • Join us for an electrifying panel discussion that takes you behind the scenes of the new Sony short film “Cut to the Chase.” Discover the secrets of this short film brought to life through next-gen virtual production and cinematic storytelling tools. You’ll hear from industry experts as they explore the innovative use of a motion processing platform, as well as technologies including Sony’s VENICE 2 and BURANO flagship cinema cameras, and the extraordinary VERONA Crystal LED video wall, all powered by Unreal Engine.
